In case of an auto accident follow these steps:Traffic Accident

1. Seek medical attention at once for any injured persons by calling 911.

2. Call to request that a law enforcement officer come to the accident scene to make a report. Cooperate with the officer who arrives. If an officer cannot come to the accident, go to the nearest law enforcement station to file a counter report. To protect yourself, file a report even if the other party leaves the scene or fails to report the accident. Penalties for “hit-and-run” accidents are quite severe in some states.

3. Do not discuss the accident facts with anyone except the officer and your own insurance representative (either your independent agent or insurance company.)

4. Get the names of all witnesses before leaving the scene, then provide the information to your agent or insurance company representative.

5. Promptly report any accident to your agent or direct to your company at one of the numbers listed.

Preparing for the unexpected:

Escape Plan1. Protect your property before a loss happens. Most homes have a central location where electricity, water, etc. can be turned off. Learn where your home’s main shut-off points are and make sure every member of your household learns how to shut them off in the event of an emergency.

2. Keep an emergency kit on hand with these essentials

3. Keep a record of important phone numbers. Along with your local emergency numbers and the number of your agent, keep the number of your insurance company listed above handy.

4. Inventory your personal and business items. A written record of your property is one of the best ways to make sure you get the full protection due under your policy. If a loss happens, you’ll have a complete record of your belongings.

If you have a property claim:

1. Call you insurance company right away. Most companies have claims professionals on hand 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to take your report.

2. Be sure your agent and claims adjuster know how and where to reach you.

3. Protect your home from additional damage. Patch broken windows or exposed areas of the roof with plywood. If you can’t do the repairs yourself, your claims representative can often recommend a reliable local contractor.

4. Even if you feel some items may be damaged beyond repair, don’t dispose of them until your claims representative has examined them.

5. Move small valuables and other personal belongings to a secure place.
